Sentenced

Valerij Ihnatovich did not plead himself guilty of Dmitry Zavadsky’s abduction. In the jail of temporary isolation he went on hunger strike and tired himself to extreme conditions, so that he could not walk on his own. He was put on stretchers and this way taken to the interrogations with the investigator and later on to the trial. As journalists noticed, one could hardly believe that it was the same special troops’ solder who had uttered at the preliminary investigation: “Long live president!” and had assured boldly the investigators, that soon he would be released. During the trial session Ihnatovich did not answer the questions. Gift of speech returned to him after the announcement of the verdict – all that was going on in the Court he called a clownery and a Jewish- Zionists conspiracy. At present, by his parents’ words, Valerij Ihnatovich is in extremely severe state…

“At one of the meetings in the beginning of the year the son told us that he was put to prison because had presented at the conversation between two high-ranked officials, by cowardice of one of which people had died, – told journalists Ihnatovich’s parents. – And then just after the trial he said: “I didn’t do any harm to Zavadsky, I don’t know him and have never seen him in my life. I am guilty of nothing.” The day Zavadsky was abducted Valera was at home and only in the evening went to Minsk. The son even now, at every beat of a warden says: “I am not guilty.” And that time during the investigation, do you know how he “was being interrogated”, two months he urinated with blood? Valera told the barrister about that. When we started appealing, we were litigated as slanderers. I am sure: now they are waiting for Valera’s to die. But God is our hope, he will not permit it. There is no another defender left with us.”

As it was stated, when had searched, a digging tool had been found in Ihnatovich’s car, on which experts-criminalists revealed the blood of Dmitry  Zavadsky. But the parents and barristers of Ihnatovich assure that the digging tool had been put stealthily.

“Firstly, the car was examined several times, there are even the statements of the examination of the car, where no digging tool appeared, – says Ihnatovich’s mother. – Secondly, I ask myself: Ihnatovich has worked enough time in law-enforcement bodies, he would really have lack of experience and prudential to take this dig with him, wouldn’t he?..” So, all evidence of crime he has left and only the dig he saved. To conclude, I consider the case was totally made up. And I think that exactly because of abovementioned Valera is kept now in the conditions which made his health even worse. They hope even today, wait for Valera to die. It is very convenient to them. If Ihnatovich dies, he will never prove he is not guilty.”

Other accused of the abduction of Zavadsky refuse to plead them guilty and say that they have been substituted instead of real criminals.
